Washington, D.C. (July 8, 2014)—Rep Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa, will sit down with The Atlantic’s Washington Editor-at-Large Steve Clemons as part of The Atlantic’s “Women of Washington” series Monday, July 14. The interview will address U.S. foreign policy priorities at a time of peak turmoil in the Middle East with the rise of terror group ISIS, and will also explore American education reform and the country’s role in advocating for fundamental human rights around the world. Rep. Ros-Lehtinen, a former teacher, is the first Hispanic woman elected to Congress. Her parents were political refugees from Cuba.
This is the first 2014 installment of The Atlantic's ongoing “Women of Washington” event series, which showcases conversations with women leaders in Washington, D.C.
