The Atlantic and National Journal’s A New America: How Millennials are Sparking Change Comes to University of Richmond

Washington, D.C. (April 3, 2014)—The Atlantic and National Journal will bring A New America—their town hall series on the influence and potential of the Millennial generation—to the campus of the University of Richmond on April 16 from 2:30-5:30 PM, ET. The event invites students, business leaders, and residents to join for an afternoon of networking and conversation on start-up and service engagement opportunities for Millennials—which, in addition to being America’s most diverse generation, are on track to be the most educated, connected and wired generation in U.S. history.

Joining guests for the event will be Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA), who will share his thoughts on career prospects and service opportunities for Generation Y, and Paul Singh, Founder of Disruption Corporation and Crystal Tech Fund, who will discuss how Millennials have changed the face of startup culture across the nation.

Richmond voices, including Larkin Garbee, Founder of 804RVA, Lieutenant Colonel Mark Thomson, Chair of the Department of Military Science and Leadership at the University of Richmond, and a panel of Richmond students will offer a local read on Millennials’ impact on Richmond’s growth and culture.

Atlantic Media Editorial Director Ronald Brownstein will serve as an event moderator.

A preliminary schedule follows, and a full speaker roster and agenda will be released in the coming days. Media interested in attending the event should contact The Atlantic’s Alexi New (anew@theatlantic.com). The event will also be webcast via The Atlantic's new Events Channel.  Follow the conversation on Twitter via @Atlantic_LIVE and @NJLIVEEvents, and by using the hashtag #MillennialPathways.
