Washington, D.C. and New York, N.Y. -- Jay Lauf, Vice President and Publisher of The Atlantic, announced today that Hayley Romer has been named Associate Publisher of The Atlantic. Working closely with Lauf and overseeing the national sales team, Romer will help lead advertising efforts for The Atlantic brand across all its platforms.
Romer joins The Atlantic at a time of impressive growth. Since 2008 when Lauf was named publisher, advertising revenue has increased 111 percent overall and a staggering 650 percent on the digital side. Traffic to The Atlantic's digital properties--TheAtlantic.com, TheAtlanticWire.com, and TheAtlanticCities.com--attract, on average, 13.4 million unique visitors per month according to Omniture, more than double a year ago. Print circulation is up 2.4 percent during this period, as well.
"Hayley has a stellar reputation from all corners of the publishing landscape--from our peers, clients, and partners on the agency side," said Lauf. "I couldn't be more thrilled to uphold the David Bradley mission of hiring top talent and adding to the all-star roster here at The Atlantic."
Prior to joining The Atlantic, Romer spent five years at the Condé Nast Media Group, most recently as Executive Director of Corporate Sales. In that role, she managed an integrated team on accounts ranging from Finance to Luxury to Technology across titles such as The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, and Wired. Before joining Condé Nast in 2007, Romer managed the luxury account list at Forbes Media. She began her career in publishing at American Heritage magazine.
