Video by POV

What Tomorrow Brings is a documentary that tells the story of a small Afghan village’s first girls’ school. The school is the vision of a woman named Razia Jan, who was determined to create a safe space for equal education despite the presence of a resurgent Taliban. “When I opened the school the first year, it was very tough. Some men came inside and said, ‘Please make it into a boy’s school,’” recounts Jan in this excerpt from the film. Things haven’t gotten much easier, and the school’s students and administrators regularly encounter threats of violence in their mission. What Tomorrow Brings is part of the PBS documentary series POV. The full film is streaming online until November 30, 2016.
