Um Ali crossed the Syrian border into Jordan with only the clothes she had on, almost freezing during the long journey. In this excerpt from the documentary Salam Neighbor, she tells the filmmakers Chris Temple and Zach Ingrasci her story. Temple and Ingrasci traveled to Zaatari refugee camp, which is the largest camp for Syrians, to live among the residents and film their daily lives. Salam Neighbor sits at the intersection of journalism and activism, using the stories of individual refugees to raise awareness of the worsening plight of Syrians that have fled to neighboring countries in the Middle East.
