The Problem With Art Fairs

Jun 13, 2016 | 682 videos
Video by Artsy

This is the fourth and final film in an enlightening series of short films from Artsy and UBS, titled "The Art Market (in Four Parts)," that aims to make sense of the unregulated art world. This episode is about the pitfalls of art fairs, and how the contemporary market has created massively expensive events that are filled with anxiety for galleries and artists alike. You can watch the first film on art auctions, the second one on galleries, and the third film on patrons here on The Atlantic. The films were directed by Oscar Boyson, and can also be seen on Artsy as well as on UBS's online art portal.
