Opal Tometi, Co-founder of the #BlackLivesMatter movement, talks with Atlantic editor Scott Stossel about the origins of the political movement. Tometi says the campaign was incentivized by a need to call attention to the "crisis in our democracy" currently taking place—a crisis of poverty, discrimination, and unemployment in black communities.
