Traveling cross country in a small plane, James and Deborah Fallows are reporting on a side of small-town America that you wouldn't normally discover on a road trip. They began their journey two weeks ago at Montgomery County Airpark in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and the Atlantic Video crew was there to see them off. Since then they've been flying from one town to the next, taking tips from readers and reporting along the way. For more on the American Futures project, check out this introduction from James Fallows, and don't miss his full post about this video.
