From director Kat Gardiner comes this charming short about a man and his craft. In Shaped on All Six Sides, we meet Andy Stewart, who comes from a long line of boat manufacturers. Using tools passed down from generation to generation, he finds solace in keeping these wooden vessels alive. For Stewart, nothing else he has done has been quite so challenging or interesting on a daily basis.
In an era when cool is synonymous with artisanal, handcrafted, or local, Stewart's passion for building boats seems genuine. “To build a wooden boat," he says, "is the closest thing you can do to give life to an inanimate object.”
