From the Aspen Ideas Festival, the director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver explains that traditional notions of art are breaking down. Lerner brings an experimental, punk rock approach to running the MCA. In his view, museums and visitors should be more like artists. His Mixed Taste lecture series format involves pairing two speakers from very different fields -- "Silent Films and Counterfeit Currency," "Wittgenstein and Hula Dancing," and "Craft Beer and Renaissance Polyphony," to name a few -- and with the cross-pollination, hilarity ensues. Here, he describes the evolving landscape of the museum world and how "the artists of our time" might not, in fact, be "artists" at all. This video is part of a new series on the Atlantic Video channel, The Future of X, looking at what's on the horizon for culture, business, and technology.
