The Department of Energy's 1980 documentary, Wind: An Energy Alternative, is a handy overview of the history of wind technology in the U.S. It begins with an explanation of how heat from the sun creates wind currents, and includes some interesting archival images of early applications of wind power in agriculture and transportation. It goes on to describe various projects in research and design across the country at that time. Check it out, and stay tuned for videos covering more recent developments in alternative energy as a part of our special report.
