Twitter is considering a new Retweeting feature: Retweet with Comment. It would appear where the current "Quote Tweet" option appears in the native app. Retweets automatically repost the tweet, and Quote Tweets are still limited to 140 characters.
With Retweet with Comment, users could add their own message (140 characters, per usual) to the previous tweet. The original tweet would become a "Twitter Card," and you could add your commentary above it. That's a total of 280 characters in one message, and just the latest attempt to expand your tweeting options.
The feature is already rolled out to some select users, who, of course, are not amused:
WTF is retweet with a comment? pic.twitter.com/u9DmHK6sll
