Update: 12:08 p.m.: We should be good to, as Google officially announced that the great Gchat outage of 2012 is now over. Enjoy your green dots everyone and start complaining about Twitter.

Update 9:57 a.m.: Keep calm and carry on. Google is still investigating the matter and say they will provide another update in about an hour. Update 10:56 a.m.: Some of you should have your Google Talk restored, according to Google's official statement. As for the rest of you... muahahahahahah where's your God now?  Just kidding, Google says that they're still working on it so hang tight.

This morning we felt isolated from the world, cut off from communication, and suffering from a lack of morning gossip--yes folks, Google Talk (or more commonly known as Gchat) is officially down. "We are continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 7/26/12 8:50 AM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem," reads an update from Google posted just before 8:00 a.m. EST. Got that? Of course, there's that pesky problem with letting people know your Gchat is down (and that you might be unreachable) without the use of, you know, Gchat. But hey, that's why we have Twitter, right? It's worth remembering that if you're reading this, you survived The Great Gmail Outage of 2012: You will get through this.
