Minorities Use the Mobile Web More, But a Divide Remains
African-Americans and English-speaking Latinos are among the most active users of the mobile Internet, more than even whites, according to a report that came out today. It might sound like great news -- the digital divide is finally closing -- but The New York Times points out that all things mobile are not necessarily equal:
[T]he mobile Web means different things to different people. For more affluent populations, it generally means wireless access with a laptop computer. For poorer people it means a cellphone, which is not a perfect replacement for other forms of online access.
