Steve Jobs and Porn Unite Against Flash
Perhaps this will change Steve Jobs's mind about porn? The Apple CEO has just found an unlikely ally in his apparent quest to rid the Internet--or at least mobile Apple products--of Adobe Flash: Digital Playground, one of the biggest adult film studios in the U.S.
The studio's founder Ali Joone shares Jobs's distaste for Flash and is preparing to switch to HTML5. Here's what he told ConcievablyTech:
Mobile browsers run HTML 5 very well. Flash brings everything to a crawl and has an impact on battery life. With HTML 5, there is no reason to show our content in Flash. We are waiting for browsers to catch up. As soon as they are ready, we will move everything to HTML 5.
Is this the start of a large trend away from Flash? Gizmodo's Adam Frucci adds some context:
When the porn industry gets behind a tech, it tends to be a good sign. When it deserts a tech? Yeah, that's a bad sign... Essentially, as soon as Internet Explorer gets around to fully supporting HTML5, we'll see at least one major porn studio ditching Flash. And we know where the porn industry goes, the mainstream entertainment industry tends to follow.
