Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz has a flair for colorful language and testy rejoinders. She doesn't take criticisms of her company or performance lying down. So when technology blogger Micheal Arrington suggested in an on-stage conversation with her that Yahoo wasn't a "cutting edge technology company" there were bound to be fireworks. Before lowering the boom, Bartz belittles Arrington's company and helpfully reminds him how long she's been chief executive. Did Arrington have it coming?
Bartz: I've been at this company 16 months. and so I'm supposed to have an iPad, iPod... I mean, c'mon. You are involved in a very tiny company [pause]
Arrington: Very tiny.
Bartz: And it probably takes a long time to even convince yourself what the hell to do. So I don't want to hear any crap about something magical that the fine people of Yahoo are supposed to do in this short time. So fuck off.
