It's been a rough week for climate change proponents as conservative pundits have been targeting everything from the months-old Climategate scandal to the East Coast blizzards as proof that climate change is little more than a liberal hoax. Now Joshua Rhett Miller at Fox News is whipping conservative bloggers into a furor, reporting that the Cambridge Climate Congress plans on instituting a variety of climate-friendly policies, so far that "going green will not be optional in Cambridge, Mass., if the Cambridge Climate Congress has its way. It will be mandatory." According to Miller, these "'heavy-handed' and incongruous" policies will include:
Congestion pricing to reduce car travel. Curbside parking will be eliminated. There will be a carbon tax "of some kind," not to mention taxes on plastic and paper bags. And the Massachusetts city, home of Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will advocate vegetarianism and veganism, complete with "Meatless or Vegan Mondays.
- This Is Liberal Nazism at Its Best argues JammieWearingFool: "So now you'll have these liberal Nazis coming into your home to see what you're eating every Monday? Good grief. Where does this lunacy end?...Does anyone have the heart to tell these wackos that this mythical "climate change" is a hoax?"
- Just A Preview Of American Authoritarianism scoffs Vladimir at Red State: "While none of these measures have yet been enacted, they represent a window on the soul of the radical environmental movement, and the authoritarian means by which they’re prepared to force their vision on the rest of us."
- Behold the Tyranny Of Silly People writes John Stossel, questioning the intellecutal integrity of the so-called "climate emergency": "Its the tyranny of the silly people. Reminds me of Prince Charles claiming we only have “96 months left to save the planet.” (That was in July, though, so now we only have 89 months left.) Never mind studies that show local food is often more pollution-intensive than food grown abroad and shipped...Do the enviro-nannies realize that there is a difference? Do they realize that there is a huge difference? I fear not. A nice thing about local government is that when idiots take it over, its easier to move."
