How can I nominate a nonprofit to win a Renewal Award?
Nominations for the 2020 Renewal Awards are open from October 16 to December 10, 2019.
What do they win?
Five winners will each receive $40,000 in funding over two years from The Atlantic and Allstate; one of the winners will additionally be presented with the Allstate Youth Empowerment Award.
How are nominations evaluated?
A panel of judges from The Atlantic will evaluate all nominations based on the nonprofit’s unique approach to creating positive change; the impact it’s had to date; information available from nonprofit resources such as GuideStar, Charity Navigator, and GreatNonprofits; and a short answer submitted by the nominator.
What is the awards process?
After nominations close at 6:00 p.m. on December 10, a small team selected by The Atlantic will begin evaluating the nominees to identify an initial group of 50 semifinalists. From there, 15 finalists will be selected by The Atlantic in late February 2020. The finalists will be reviewed and evaluated by a panel of external judges that will select five winners. The winners will be announced at the spring 2020 Renewal Summit, in Chicago, Illinois.
