Here's your teens of the administration being teens update: Malia Obama went to prom, and Hugo — son of Jay — Carney's band just released its first single, "Heart Thief." When Jay Carney resigned as White House press secretary on Friday afternoon, he even joked that he might go on to manage his son's band.
Fifteen-year-old sophomore Malia attended her first prom recently, as President Obama said Friday. "I think it’s fair to say that the first time you see your daughter in heels is a little bit … jarring," the president said during and interview on Live! With Kelly and Michael. "She’s lovely.” The real question — did Malia go with a date, or just with friends — was "classified information."
Malia probably wouldn't have been caught dead taking a middle schooler, even one of the four coolest (pre-)teens in Washington. But Hugo Carney and his bandmates know how to have age appropriate fun, as the video for the new single "Heart Thief" shows.
As the New York Daily News reported, Twenty20 is the name of a band featuring "Hugo, U.S. Trade Rep. Mike Froman's son Ben, HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan’s son Lucas and Joey Doyle, whose mom is Hillary Clinton's former presidential campaign manager turned Obama campaign adviser Patti Solis Doyle." All four attend the same private school as Sasha and Malia. In the video Hugo, the leader, and his friends walk, ride the metro, taxi cab and skateboard around Washington D.C. At one point the kids buy Slurpees.

"On a summer day, I wanna fly away," Hugo sings. Having listened to "Heart Thief" four times, we'd argue it's a pretty decent song of the summer, at least for other administration teens.
