In an effort to promote his upcoming documentary and further diminish the presidency, right-wing filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza parodied President Obama's "Between Two Ferns" appearance in a new video. “We were supposed to have the leader of the free world, Vladimir Putin, but he was busy, so, welcome for the second week in a row, Barack Obama,” D’Souza, who is under indictment for breaking campaign finance laws, starts.

Released Tuesday, the clip replaces Galifiankis and his questions about turkey pardons with D'Souza and questions about the IRS scandal. D'Souza asks what the president plans to do about Lois Lerner, a former IRS official being investigated for targeting certain groups by Congress. "We'll probably pardon another turkey." Later, D'Souza asks what it's like to have a golf game that sucks as much as his presidency. It's about three minutes of that, followed by a trailer for America. "I believe that we have produced something that is funnier than the original," D'Souza told The Hollywood Reporter. We're not sure about that.

When the president originally appeared on "Between Two Ferns" earlier this month to promote Healthcare.gov, conservatives argued that he had diminished the presidency, and his appearances were undignified. Bill O'Reilly of Fox News argued that Abe Lincoln wouldn't have done "Ferns," while his co-worker Laura Ingraham described it as Obama "presiding over America's decline." The administration argued that it was driving young people to Healthcare.gov. The question now is whether using Obama's goofy interview to make fun of Obama further devalues the presidency or will help D'Souza sell movie tickets.
