While he enjoys his vacation this week, President Obama might be catching up on some of the television shows that he's missed while running the country. The New York Times reports that Obama is partial to critically-acclaimed dramas these days.
Currently, he is working his way through a backlog of Breaking Bad episodes. "The show just ended after five seasons," the paper reports, "but the president is way behind and frequently reminds those around him not to give anything away."
That's just a very funny scenario to imagine: Obama sits down at the lunch table and grabs a packet of Stevia and Biden and Chuck Hagel just sorta look at each other and grin. "What?" Obama asks, "What is it?" Biden replies, "Oh, nothing. You'd kill us if we told you." Hagel agrees, gesturing to the President, "The guy has a backdoor into Google and doesn't even know about the Stevia thing. Can you believe this guy?"
Anyway, the Times also reports that the President is a big fan of Game of Thrones, Homeland, Boardwalk Empire, and House of Cards. A couple of weeks ago, Obama asked Netflix head honcho Reed Hastings about the upcoming season of the show and was offered a cameo on the series. "I wish things were that ruthlessly efficient," he said. "It’s true. It’s like Kevin Spacey, man this guy’s getting a lot of stuff done." And killing congressmen in parking garages, but you know, This Town, man.
There's no word on whether President Obama has caught up on Homeland and since ordered CIA headquarters to be a Sharpie-Free Zone.
Obama has long been a fan of The Wire (no relation), HBO's wide-ranging series about the drug game in Baltimore, and proclaimed stick-up man Omar Little to be the best character on the show. The Obamas also enjoy more family-friendly fair like Parks & Recreation and Modern Family.
