Allen West Reportedly Loses His Job Over a Politically Incorrect Slur

Allen West reportedly called a female employee a "Jewish American princess," resulting in the loss of his job. While some of the famously outspoken former congressman's supporters might see the situation as political correctness gone wrong, the latest incident happened an the epicenter of the anti-PC police rebel alliance: Pajamas Media.

Buzzfeed explains that West "voluntarily" left his position at the media outlet, effective at the end of this month. Here's an email — obtained by Rosie Gray — to the PJ Media staff: 

"In order to focus on political interests, Allen West will transition from his full-time role as director of programming for Next Generation.TV to a twice-a-month contributor of written commentary on PJMedia.com, effective October 1, 2013.

I wanted our staff and consultants to have this information first. However, PJ Media is not announcing this publicly for several weeks, so please do not share this news with anyone outside of the company until you see our public announcement."

However, that's not the whole story. While West says he left his job voluntarily, an unnamed source says he was fired. Gray writes:

Two sources familiar with what happened told BuzzFeed that West had gotten into an argument with a female employee and called her a "Jewish American princess" while telling her to "shut up." Reached by phone, West told BuzzFeed he was leaving his job voluntarily, though one source familiar with the situation told BuzzFeed he had been fired..."No I didn’t get fired," West said. "I’m leaving to pursue political aspirations. That’s it. There’ll be a statement that comes out and it’s effective in October." Asked specifically whether he referred to the employee as a "Jewish American princess," West said simply, "There was an exchange, that’s all."

While West has made something of a name for himself calling out "political correctness" in American society, it kind of makes sense that the former legislator wouldn't see it at work here. West, who's probably best known among anti-Sharia-type conservatives, employs the "PC Police" most often in reference to the fact that America doesn't seem to want to racially profile Muslims. By West's estimation, for instance, it was at the Nidal Hasan trial, and it's putting our country in danger. 

Notably, Pajamas Media could have avoided their alleged West problem before it started: it turns out that West has something of a history of insulting women he doesn't like: in 2011, he told DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz that he would not longer respect her because she wasn't a "lady." In response to those allegations, the then-congressman went a bit PC Police himself: he accused his detractors of criticizing his remarks because of racism.
