Update 2:52 p.m. The shooting was not a random act of violence, police say. And they say they're looking for a white male. The Arizona Republic reports:
Sgt. Tommy Thompson of the Phoenix Police Department said officers believe one suspect is responsible for the shooting and that the suspect is still on the loose. Thompson said one man walked into the building and shot several people.
He said the suspect is a white male and that police believe the shooting was a targeted act and that an altercation occurred prior to the shooting.
Update, 2:20 p.m.There isn't any word of any fatalities so far, but the three of the wounded have been rushed to a nearby hospital, police say. "Phoenix Police spokesman James Holmes said the people who were shot were taken from the scene to a local hospital, and there was no immediate word on their condition," reports Reuters, which adds that Holmes at the time did not report any fatalities.
Update, 2:00 p.m.: Clearer numbers about how many people were involved are coming in. We earlier reported that at least three people were injured, but according to Jane Lednovich at the The Arizona Republic, that number has risen to five. "Five people are injured, three of them shot, in a shooting at an office complex in north-central Phoenix Wednesday morning, officials said," Lednovich writes, adding that the shooting occurred around 10:30 a.m. local time (around 12:30 EST). According to Lednovich's witnesses, there around 50 police cars on the scene right now.
