Late last week, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said the ban on women in combat would be lifted by 2016. An array of responses followed — some marked by outrage, others by elation — but some of the most befuddling came from cable news commentators who pinned the new policy's inevitable failure on, among other things, the embarrassment of public defecation. (Also: eros.)
