Former President George H.W. Bush has been hospitalized in Houston with bronchitis, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Bush has remained in the local hospital for the last seven days, but his condition is not considered life threatening, officials told the Chronicle.
"We have kept this quiet out of respect for him," his chief of staff, Jean Becker, told the Chronicle, adding later, "His big problem is a chronic cough, he can't get rid of so he's back at Methodist."
Since the cough has not turned into pneumonia, he is expected to be released this weekend.
