Obama's Brutal New '47 Percent' Ad
In a new commercial airing heavily in swing states, the entire script is Romney's leaked comments about "entitled," government-dependent "victims."
CANTON, Ohio -- The Obama campaign didn't put out a press release announcing this new TV ad Thursday, but I've seen it numerous times on the air in Canton, the seat of battleground Stark County. The entire ad, "My Job," consists of audio from the leaked videotape of Mitt Romney, at a fundraiser, disparaging the 47 percent of Americans who don't pay federal income taxes as "victims" who feel "entitled" to benefits. As Romney speaks, images of families, workers, veterans and seniors are shown.
It's not the first Obama commercial keying off the "47 percent" comments; a couple of days ago, the campaign released an ad juxtaposing Romney's words with the contents of his tax return. But where that was a cerebral argument, this one is purely emotional -- and purely in Romney's own words.
The Obama campaign says the ad is airing in New Hampshire, Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Iowa, Nevada, and Colorado.
