Congressional Leadership Sees Decline in Net Worth
The net worth of some of the top congressional leaders dropped, according to financial-disclosure forms released on Thursday, Politico reported.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has the largest minimum net worth among House leaders, at $26.4 million, and also lost the most: $8 million compared with last year.
Speaker John Boehner's minimum net worth dropped from $2.1 million to $1.7 million.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid had a minimum net worth decline of $800,000, most of which came from a reduction in property value.
Several of the wealthiest members of Congress got extensions for their financial-disclosure forms this year, Politico reports.
Financial disclosures were released on Thursday morning to the public. Documents reveal that in the Senate, John Kerry, D-Mass., Mark Warner, D-Va., and Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., all received additional time. In the House, Reps. Rick Berg, R-N.D., David Dreier, R-Calif., and Mike McCaul, R-Texas, also received extensions.
Politico also points out that Reps. David Rivera, R-Fla., Maxine Waters, D-Calif., Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., Allen West, R-Fla., Steve King, R-Iowa, and Ben Quayle, R-Ariz., were also filing late.
