After Hawaii quit trolling Arizona's Secretary of State Ken Bennett for asking them to just maybe double-check that Obama was born in the U.S., and sent him the verification of the president's birth records, Bennett says he's sufficiently convinced and Obama will appear on ballots this November. Phew.
His statement, posted by Politico, is not without a bit of muttered justification for the entire endeavor. He writes, in part:
As Arizona’s chief elections officer, I have the responsibility to certify the ballot to the state’s 15 counties. At the request of numerous constituents, I merely asked Hawaiian officials to verify the information contained within President Obama’s original birth certificate. They have complied with the request and I consider the matter closed
Something tells us his concerned constituents won't be as convinced, but hey, case closed.
