Santorum Sort Of Makes Mitt Romney's Leno Appearance Memorable

Mitt Romney's appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno was sinking quickly into dullsville, before Leno quickly (and thankfully) turned the subject to Rick Santorum.

As you might recall, Santorum said on Monday that he'd have no problem being Mitt Romney's Vice President if asked, which is... weird since Santorum has been saying all that bad stuff about Romney in the past about being "The Worst Republican"?  So what better way to create sparks on Romney's bland appearance on Leno (he talked about allocating delegates on a proportional basis) than to ask him about a Santorum Vice Presidency right?  Well, not exactly. As Romney told Leno:

Well, you know, you’re on all the time when you’re running for office... Everything you say is being followed by, you know, a small camera of some kind that someone has. You don’t always get every word just right. And so you have to give people a little bit of slack, I think. In this case, Rick Santorum is a good guy, he’s running a good campaign...

It isn't until Romney and Leno play a word association game that viewers finally get to something mildly juicy (video below).  Leno runs through a battery of potential Romney running mates and we get to see the candidate think on his feet.  Words like "indomitable", "creative", "energetic" get awarded to Republican enigmas like Chris Christie, Paul Ryan, and Nikki Haley. And what did Romney have to say about "pick me, pick me as your VP" Santorum?

"Press Secretary."
