The fight over the health-care overhaul brought us some of the craziest moments in recent political history, from wildly confrontational town-hall meetings to actual death threats against legislators.

Most of the true insanity happened in August 2009, as Democratic members of Congress returned to their home districts to face angry, conservative opposition at public events. A member of Congress was hung in effigy. Others got screamed at. Fights broke out. At a protest in Los Angeles, a guy had his finger bitten off.
