Arpaio Won't Run

Maricopa County, Arizona Joe Arpaio will not run for governor, Hotline OnCall's Sean Sullivan reports, after talking to Arizona GOP Executive Director Brett Mecum.

Arpaio has attained national renown for his hard-line tactics in enforcing immigration laws. Speculation had mounted that Arpaio would run on the Republican ticket. His candidacy would have undoubtedly fueled the national debate (and uproar) over immigration policy in the wake of Arizona's new immigration-enforcement law.
