Morning Vid: Stephen Colbert Teaches Sarah Palin Satire
And gets to call her a "retard" in the process
Sarah Palin is many things, but an expert on satire is not one of them. After she demanded Rahm Emanuel resign for calling Democrats "retards", she defended Rush Limbaugh when he did the exact same thing. Her explanation? "Rush Limbaugh was using satire."
Stepping up to the plate was Stephen Colbert, who blasted Palin's hanging curveball out of the park. First, the Comedy Central host let the video do the talking, playing Limbaugh's clip (twice) and Palin's defense of it. Then, wryly following Rush's example, he dropped this gem.
Sarah Palin knows that it is OK to call someone a retard if, like Rush, you clearly don't mean it. Which is why we should all come to her defense and say, 'Sarah Palin is a f---ing retard.'
Colbert played it cool, letting the audience roar for a good 20 seconds. "You see?" he finally deadpanned. "It's satire."
