Happy Hour Vid: Conservative-Mocking Auto-Tuners to Headline CPAC

What, exactly, are the Conservative Political Action Conference event planners thinking?

The Gregory Brothers are known for their popular series of YouTube videos, "Auto-Tune The News," in which clips of politicians and pundits are auto-tuned, set to a beat, and edited like a rap video. They all tend to do two things: refer to CBS News anchor Katie Couric as "Katie Coo Baby Boo" and mock conservatives. So the Gregory Brothers are an odd choice to headline the annual Conservative Political Action Conference. A CPAC poster for youth-oriented event XPAC features them up top, right next to Ann Coulter, Michael Steele, and James O'Keefe.

To showcase the oddness of the choice, here are some particularly biting Auto-Tune The News clips. The targets in this top video are Dick Cheney, Joe the Plumber, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and Ron Paul. The middle video mocks Sarah Palin, John Boehner, and Michele Bachmann. The bottom is pretty openly critical of Newt Gingrich.

Other conservatives targets: health care townhall protesters, Pat Buchanan, and GOP Representative Steve Buyer. One compares Fox News host Sean Hannity to an angry gorilla.
