Tracking the GOP race to 2012


The latest Allstate/National Journal Heartland Monitor poll reports that 50 percent of respondents said they would vote against President Obama if the election were held today, while 39 percent say they would vote for him; Sarah Palin appears to have joined the "Get Motivated" speaking tour; Palin's appearance at the Tea Party convention will be more open to press than previously planned, at her own urging, according to an organizer; and Newt Gingrich says he's "probably on a list of seven or eight possible candidates" for president in 2012.
