President Jimmy Carter does it again. Straying from his usual areas of interest, Carter invoked his Southern roots to conclude that racism was behind Congressman Joe Wilson's outburst at President Obama and the recent 9/12 protests. "I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African American," said Carter, in an interview with NBC's Brian Williams. "I live in the south. I've seen the south come a long way and I've seen the rest of the country share the attitude of the south towards minority groups, at that time particularly the African-Americans," he added.

Carter's comments have ignited a fiery response in the blogosphere, with liberals and conservatives coming in his defense and criticizing him alike. If you're looking for people reading Carter the riot act, The Daily Intel has done a great job of rounding them up.
