I’ve been traveling for several days recently, and was unable to compose a proper photo story for today, so I hope you’ll indulge me if I just share a few pictures I took in and around Seattle, Washington, yesterday. The weather was fantastic, and I had the luxury of a whole day to do nothing other than explore the city I once called home, and see how much (and how little) has changed in the dozen years since I left. These are essentially snapshots of the day—I’m still stretching my wings as a photographer, but it’s always fun to keep working on it.

From Lake Union Park, looking south down Terry Avenue North in South Lake Union. This area has changed drastically in the past decade, and now has many new buildings. The last time I visited, around 2003, much of this area was occupied by older two- and three-story brick buildings or parking lots. #

On the shore of Lake Union, I encountered this gentleman fishing. As I said hello to him, he reached down, and a fuzzy head popped out of this bag—his pup had been snoozing inside. I asked if I could take their picture. #

One of the things that has not changed in Seattle: Canada geese. There are still plenty of geese along the waterfronts, including several small groups of goslings along Lake Union. #

The top of Seattle's Smith Tower. Built in 1914, the 38-story tower was the tallest building on the West Coast for decades. An open-air deck observatory is now open to visitors. The building primarily houses office space, but the pyramid-shaped upper area houses a single residential apartment, which is currently occupied. #
