Over the past couple weeks before tonight's speech, President Obama's approval-rating upswing has been significant.

After hovering in negative territory for about eight months, Obama's numbers treaded into the positive earlier this month for the first time since June. Now, his average sits at 49.8% approve/45.1% disapprove—a solid five points on the plus side.
