The print version of the new November issue of the Atlantic is out. It is very good. I can say this with less self-interest than usual because I have only one tiny item in it. (Hey, wait till next month...) But it has several outstanding narrative/analytical pieces, plus a whole special "Brave Thinkers" segment.
There are a dozen different places I could tell you to start with the issue, but let me take a stab and recommend this incredible piece, by Brian Mockenhaupt, about an American unit on very rough duty in Afghanistan. I'll do something soon about the emerging tone of reports from Afghanistan. For the moment, read the article and the issue. And subscribe!
