With the increased presence in Notes of my colleague Rosa, a native of Portland, Oregon, where my own family has put down roots, expect to see a lot more Bridgetown blogging. Above is a brand new track from Portland-based experimental pop artist Daniel Rafn, and “Shalom” is about his own hometown nearby:
The album’s [The Hanged Man] lead single sees Rafn posing his birthplace, Salem [Oregon] - translated from the Hebrew “shalom”, meaning peace - as the universal place of harmony that we collectively originate from, and makes public his desire to create art that helps people to reconnect with their own peace. […] Daniel will celebrate the new single’s release on July 3rd at The Liquor Store in Portland.
If you live in the Portland area and want to recommend one of your favorite Portland artists, drop us a note.
