What We're Following This Evening

Chernobyl’s anniversary: Tomorrow marks the 30-year anniversary of the explosion at the Soviet power plant that killed several workers and exposed thousands of others to dangerous levels of radiation. About 120,000 people were evacuated from the surrounding area, including 43,000 from the Ukrainian city of Pripyat. Decades later, the cleanup continues. Alan has photos of the site here.

Super Tuesday: Voters in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island will held to the polls tomorrow in nominating contests for Democratic and Republican presidential candidates. Catch up on the race with David’s cheat sheet here, and read Russell on what tomorrow means for the front-runners here.

It’s World Penguin Day: Be honest: You cried during March of the Penguins, didn’t you? Give thanks today to the globe’s 17 species of penguins.
