Donald Trump is leading Senator Marco Rubio in the latter’s home state of Florida, according to polls. In Ohio, John Kasich, the U.S. state’s governor, is in a close race against Trump. On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are in tight races in Missouri, Ohio, and Illinois.
Russia begins Syria pullout: The move comes a day after President Vladimir Putin announced a surprise withdrawal of the “main part” of his forces fighting on behalf of Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad. Meanwhile, talks involving the various Syrian factions will continue today for a second day in Switzerland. They are aimed at ending the five-year-long civil war.
A new president in Myanmar: Htin Kyaw, an ally of Aung San Suu Kyi, was elected by parliament today. Suu Kyi, the pro-democracy leader, was ineligible to be president because of a constitutional clause—but she has said she will be above the president.
