Deadly Jakarta attack: There were explosions centered on Thamrin Street, a major shopping and business district in the Indonesian capital, followed by gun battles. Police say five attackers are among the at least seven people who were killed. The situation, they say, is now under control. It’s unclear who is responsible, though news reports quoted the police spokesman as saying the attackers “are likely” from ISIS. Update: More here

West Africa is declared Ebola-free: WHO says the most recent outbreak of the deadly virus is over in Liberia. All known chains of transmission have now been stopped in the wider region, it says, though “more flare-ups” are expected.
