What We're Following This Afternoon

Global stocks are down on worries about China: U.S. and European stocks are sharply lower amid fears of a slowdown in the Chinese economy. The Dow Jones industrial average had its worst opening day since 1932.

More border restrictions in Europe: Sweden imposed border restrictions to prevent migrants and refugees from entering via Denmark. Denmark imposed similar measures on newcomers from Germany. As Europe struggles to cope with hundreds of thousands of migrants and refugees fleeing unrest in Syria and elsewhere, the idea of borderless travel across Europe appears to be fraying.

The toll from the quake: At least 11 people are dead and nearly 200 injured in the magnitude 6.8 quake that struck northeast India and parts of Bangladesh. Six people were killed in India; five in Bangladesh.
