Anti-ISIS coalition: Germany’s Cabinet has approved a military support plan against the group, and parliament is expected to vote on the measure Wednesday. German forces won’t engage in combat. The U.K. Cabinet is expected to take a similar vote today. It’s part of the global response to the attacks in Paris on November 13. Update: More here

Air Asia investigation: Investigators are blaming a faulty part, combined with the crew’s response to the malfunction, for the crash of Flight 8501 that was traveling from Surabaya, Indonesia, to Singapore last year. The crash killed 162 people. You can read the report here.

Juneau’s mayor dies: Greg Fisk, the newly elected mayor of the Alaskan capital, was found dead at his home. No cause of death was released. The Alaska Dispatch News reports an autopsy is expected to take several days. Fisk was 70 years old.    

A civil rights anniversary: Today marks the 60th anniversary of the day Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat in a bus to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama. The event led to the yearlong bus boycott in the city.
