San Bernardino shooters: Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik were talking to each other about jihad as early as late 2013, before they became engaged, got married, and lived together in the U.S., James Comey, the FBI director, told lawmakers today. U.S. ready to help Iraqis retake Ramadi: Here’s the quote from Defense Secretary Ash Carter: “The United States is prepared to assist the Iraqi army with additional unique capabilities to help them finish the job, including attack helicopters and accompanying advisers” if circumstances warrant it and if the Isaqi leadership asks for the help. Rahm Emanuel apologizes: In a rare address to the full Chicago City Council, the mayor apologized for the police shooting of Laquan McDonald. “If we’re going to fix it, I want you to understand it’s my responsibility with you,” he said. “But if we’re also going to begin the healing process, the first step in that journey is my step, and I’m sorry.” Update: More here
