Climate talks begin: Officials from nearly 200 countries have begun a two-week meeting in Paris to reach a new deal on reducing carbon emissions. President Obama is among the leaders who will attend the U.N. talks, known as COP21. Update: More here

Planned Parenthood shooting: Robert Lewis Dear, 57, the man accused of killing three people in Colorado Springs on Friday, is due today for his first court appearance. The motivations for his actions are still unclear. Update: More here

Convictions in Israel: A court has convicted two 17-year-old Israelis of the murder of a 16-year-old Palestinian in Jerusalem in 2014. The killing of Mohammad Abu Khdair was in apparent retaliation for the slayings of three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank. A mental review is being conducted for a third person arrested in connection with the Palestinian’s death. Update: More here

Kobe Bryant announces retirement: The 37-year-old Los Angeles Lakers star said he would end his professional NBA career at the end of this season, his 20th. The announcement came in the form of a poem titled “Dear Basketball” on The Players’ Tribune website.
