Appealing the ruling on immigration: The Justice Department says it will appeal to the Supreme Court after the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals blocked President Obama’s executive orders on immigration. But as Matt notes, “To get the case before the Court this term will require some alacrity.”

A ruling against a comedian: The European Court of Human Rights ruled that laws on free expression do not extend to anti-Semitic speech. The case involved Dieudonne M’Bala M’Bala, the controversial French comedian.

RIP: David writes about Allen Toussaint’s legacy. The New Orleans songwriter and pianist died Monday at 77.  Chandler reports on Helmut Schmidt. The former German chancellor was 96.
