Track of the Day: 'Juranoid'

In the United States, our favorite anthropomorphic children’s dinosaur is named Barney. He is purple and sings songs about tidying.

In Finland, where literally every conceivable thing about Earthly existence is better, the anthropomorphic dinosaurs of choice are named Hevisaurus. Well, actually, they’re named Komppi Mommppi, Riffi Raffi, Milli Pilli, Muffi Puffi, and Lord Hevisaurus.

They play in a band called Hevisaurus, which, to be clear here, is an anthropomorphic dinosaur metal band for children. In the above video, Hevisaurus gets into debauched hijinks and also rocks out with some Finns behind a tasteful house in a sun-lit boreal forest. It’s like the Vimeo aesthetic meets The Land Before Time meets Metallica live at Tushino Airfield 1991.

Hevisaurus has seven albums under their belt, including the recent Green Revolution. Founded in 2009, their first feature film is coming out later this year.
