What We're Following This Morning

Nobel Peace Prize: Here’s the announcement from the committee:

Obama in Oregon: The president will meet with the families of the victims of last week’s mass shooting in Roseburg, Oregon. After the shooting, Obama called for tighter gun-control laws, adding: “This is something we should politicize.  It is relevant to our common life together, to the body politic.”

Walter Scott settlement: His family will receive $6.5 million in compensation from the city of North Charleston, South Carolina. The unarmed black man was shot to death by a local police officer as he fled in April. The council’s vote was 10-0.
