New guidelines on mammograms: The American Cancer Society says all women should begin having annual mammograms by age 45, and change to having mammograms every other year starting at age 55. The group previously  recommended that women should get an annual mammogram starting at age 40, as well as regular breast exams. Update: More here

Syria’s rising civilian toll: As Adam noted, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights estimates that the three-week-long campaign of Russian airstrikes over Syria has killed 370 people, including 127 civilians.

The refugee crisis: Both the International Organization for Migration and the U.N. refugee agency estimate that more than half million migrants and refugees have entered Greece this year. The country is often the first point of entry into Europe for many of these migrants and refugees.
